Durmitor is a mountain of exceptional beauty, one of nature's masterpieces. It abounds in mountain peaks and numerous glacial lakes, surrounded by rich evergreen forests. The fast and clear rivers of Durmitor create beautiful canyons, among them the Tara River Canyon, which is one of the most beautiful in the world.
The mountain massif Durmitor is located in the north-west of Montenegro and consists of a vast plateau (at 1,500 m above sea level), intersected by deep canyon valleys, covered by mountain peaks, of which as many as 48 are over 2,000 m high (the highest is Bobotov kuk, Ćirova pećina – 2,523 m). . The main massif of Durmitor with the Tara, Draga and Sušica canyons, as well as the upper part of the Komarnica canyon valley, makes up a total area of over 39,000 ha.
